Every Pokemon Movie Ranked Worst To Best

15. Genesect And The Legend Awakened

Well over a decade after his last appearance - and three years before nostalgia for the original generation would be fueled to new heights by Pokemon Go - Mewtwo makes a return in the final - and best - entry of the Black and White era, out to stop a rampage from the Mythical Pokemon Genesect through a facsimile of New York City.

The film ticks some other nostalgia boxes - namely a long-awaited return for Ash's Charizard, arguably his number two Pokemon in popularity after Pikachu - and it gives more for him and companions Iris and Cilan to get their teeth stuck into, or feels like it at the very least. Still, it's not vintage by any stretch - and an apparent gender swap for Mewtwo comes out of nowhere to befuddle those seeking some continuity.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
