Every R-Rated Marvel Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Kick-Ass
In contrast to its insipid sequel, the first Kick-Ass was a bit of revelation thanks to its commitment to post-superhero commentary that has sneaked into the genre so much lately (to the point of cliche, in fact).
It might be profane and outrageous (particularly in how it portrays child assassin Hit Girl), but it's also very clever and subversive, with a great eye for satire and a surprisingly prescient commentary on the superhero genre and violence in art.
Colourful, lively and incredibly ballsy, it is the best vehicle yet for one simple question: what would happen if superheroes were real? And it does so while being hugely entertaining, very charming and featuring an incredible performance by Nic Cage. Which is a rarity these days to say the least.
