Every Resident Evil Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Resident Evil: Retribution

The fifth film in the series, Retribution, actually has its fair share of defenders, who praise how shamelessly the film embraces its fan service no matter how little sense it makes.

But let's be honest, it's painfully clear that Anderson had run dry of ideas in a sequel where he resurrects the dead likes of Rain (Michelle Rodriguez), One (Colin Salmon), and Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) as clones.

Throw in the series' unconvincing first appearances of beloved video game characters Leon S. Kennedy (Johann Urb) and Ada Wong (Li Bingbing), and you've got one hell of a rancid nostalgia stew cooking.

By setting much of the movie in a series of wild simulations taking place in an Umbrella facility, Retribution might well be the most video game-y of all the Resident Evil films, and while it boasts some undeniably creative action beats, it's more often exhausting noise than slick entertainment.
