Every Steven Spielberg Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

11. Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom (1984)

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom Harrison Ford Kate Capshaw

Though generally regarded as the awkward middle child of the Indiana Jones franchise, Temple of Doom's darker tone, highly entertaining sidekick - Jonathan Ke Quan's divisive but adorable Short Round - and superlative action sequences ensure it belongs in the same company as the two movies either side of it.

Yes, Kate Capshaw is annoying as all hell and the ethnic stereotypes - or even straight-up racism - have aged horribly, but as a more intense, terrifying vision than its predecessor, you certainly can't knock the movie for playing it safe or just rehashing its prior glories.

It's rough and it's imperfect, but it's one of the director's best free-wheeling, no-f***s given entertainments.
