10. Lydia Layne's Better Half

A successful woman passes over her lover for a coveted promotion, in favour of another candidate. The couple row heatedly, and accusations of professional jealousy result in an accidental, fatal blow to her girlfriend’s head. In a desperate attempt to dispose of the evidence, she takes her chance and conceals her girlfriend's lifeless body in the elevator to avoid detection, only to get trapped inside with the body.

This story is a classic example of why the over-the-top, campy aesthetic of the films is sorely missed in the series. And no, it’s not a case of the evolving times – a cheeky splash of Father’s Day or Something to Tide You Over would’ve worked wonders for this story. The distinct, visual style of the original is not outdated, and really should've been better incorporated into the revival. As with this list's previous two entries, this story just feels very bland, and not at all like a Creepshow segment ought to. It’s an awful shame, because the premise of the story had potential. Simple premises are often the most effective in an anthology; handled better, this could’ve been the series’ answer to Creepshow 2’s The Hitchhiker. Its ending is pretty good - but it's too little, too late.
