Every Tim Burton Film Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
It is so weird to think about the fact that this notoriously gothic and dark director made his big-screen debut in the chair of this children's film. But in the weirdest way, it actually really feels like the perfect way for him to have started.
Pee-Wee Herman is a children's TV character who had his own show, and eventually a moderately budgeted movie. Even those unfamiliar with the role can enjoy this strange and continuously irritating flick in the way that it is designed to entertain you.
The story follows the titular protagonist as he treks across the US to recover his stolen red bike. The narrative is straightforward and allows for a wealth of creative scenarios to put the wildly outlandish character in that make the run time flow well.
It certainly isn't a creative masterpiece, but many elements reflect the fantastic style of Burton, including gothic stop-motion creatures and strange occurrences. These darker aspects take a lot of liberties with the family-friendly vibe of the character, but their inclusion makes the movie much more enjoyable no matter your age.
