7. Universal Monsters: Unmasked
The House
The catacombs of Paris hold “dark secrets” and some of Universal’s most terrifying monsters. Will you survive your encounter with The Phantom of the Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Dr. Jekyll & Mr Hyde and Dr. Jack Griffin, aka The Invisible Man.
The Verdict
This was our most anticipated house before we attended Halloween Horror Nights.
Once entering the house you are greeted by a huge, beautiful set; starting your journey into the sewers of Paris. The house is full of great locations that do feel like you have entered a dark world.
The costumes the scare actors wore were superb. Each monster was incredibly detailed and creepy. We especially loved the Phantom and the Invisible Man.
Universal Monsters: Unmasked had lots of the Phantom of the Opera. Unfortunately in our run through the maze, it did feel like it was lacking in some of the other characters, especially the Hunchback. This could have been due to bad timing. The main time we did see the Hunchback of Notre Dame he had the best scare of the whole house, which we will definitely not spoil for you.
As good as this house was, ultimately we just loved the rest on this list more. We spent a lot of time debating if this or the next house would feature in which spot. With the other just coming out ahead.
