12. Marvel Zombies - Season 2
For three seasons, Marvel's What If...? has been something of a mixed bag. For every outstanding effort, there has been a lacklustre and uninspiring story, though arguably the most intriguing was always going to be What If... Zombies. This was confirmed by the Marvel Zombies spin-off in 2025.
Having these four episodes follow on from the fifth episode of the first What If...? season is arguably the best thing to come from it; of course, having a comic book history to back it up.
It's exciting to see so many characters thrown together that you wouldn't expect, as well as a handful of major players getting zombified, and while there has been a distinct lack of multiverse throughout the Multiverse Saga, this is what it's about. Taking the MCU the world knows and loves and flipping it on its head.
The first season ended on a cliffhanger, with the Queen of the Dead (Elizabeth Olsen) stealing away Kamala Khan's (Iman Vellani) perceived happy ending, and that is just begging to be picked back up by a second season. While it's sure to be fun, it feels almost like a side mission for the MCU at this point, as something that is never going to tie into the wider universe can only bring so much excitement to a franchise built on interconnectivity.
