The Expendables 3: 10 Action Behemoths The Franchise Is Still Missing
10. Carl Weathers
The aging action heroes of Hollywood are a close-knit community off-camera, which is why the chemistry of the Expendables actors works so well on screen. As fans, we know a lot of these actors have already crossed paths before in movies in previous decades. Carl Weathers is a perfect example. Weathers not only appeared in four of Stallone's Rocky films as heavyweight boxing champion Apollo Creed, but he also showed off his legendary biceps in the manliest handshake in movie history with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator. He also proved he could carry a lead role on his own with the cult classic 1988 action movie Action Jackson, and even appeared alongside new Expendable Harrison Ford in the 1978 war movie Force 10 from Navarone. Though it's been several years since Weathers has done an action film, he would bring to the franchise his tough-as-nails, no-nonsense dialogue delivery that has landed him numerous roles as sports coaches and mentors. He'd be able to tear into the Expendables verbally while having the muscle to back his words up like the drill instructor from hell. Of course, we'd also need to see Weathers and Schwarzenegger reenact their famous handshake for old time's sake.
