Fantastic Four: 10 Theories For How They Can Join The MCU

9. Cosmic Storm = The Snap

In the comic books, Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm steal a spaceship designed by Reed for a test flight, but that ends up being bombarded by "cosmic rays" which give the team their powers. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, it would make much more sense for that to be a result of "The Snap."

It could be the one Thanos did on Wakanda or, more likely, when The Hulk or Iron Man used the Infinity Stones. A Fantastic Four movie could explain that the heroes were attempting to head into space to either protect the Earth from future cosmic threats or because Reed had a theory for how to restore the dead wiped out by the Mad Titan, only to then get caught up in this storm of cosmic rays.

Regardless of the reason why they board that ship, tying their origin into the Infinity Stones would help tie them into this shared world in a big way from the start, and could even address why they would operate as a family unit rather than attempting to join the Avengers like the MCU's other heroes.
