Fantastic Four: 10 Villains Who Would Have Been Better Than Dr Doom

1. Mr Fantastic

Ok, so Mr Fantastic is difficult to imagine as the enemy in a Fantastic Four film because, well, he's the team leader, right? Except that Mr Fantsatic has some significantly un-heroic moments in the past. For one thing, Reed Richards has a nasty habit of keeping things secret from his family in order to "protect" them. You can imagine how that works out. In the comics, the Fantastic Four have dealt with a variety of parallel universes. One of the best books focusing on the team was Jonathan Hickman's FF. Among other things, the series introduced the Council of Reeds; a trans-universe think tank made up of Reed Richards. In order to "solve everything," the different Mr Fantastics have all abandoned their own worlds and families and set up shop in a pocket reality between universes. Another great example of Reed gone bad came in Ultimate comics, where the Fantastic Four were tricked into opening a door for their zombie counterparts. later, Ultimate Mr Fantastic himself went crazy after Sue Storm broke up with him. Because heartbreak makes you evil,Ultimate Reed became The Maker, a supervillain intent on replacing the human race with the Children of Tomorrow, his own, improved species Inter-dimensional travel has already been established as a feature of the new Fantastic Four film. It's the means by which the characters enter the Negative Zone and gain their powers. So it makes sense that this would also lead to the appearance and creation of their enemies, too. And who's going to pose more of a challenge to the team than their own leader turned nasty? Fantastic Four fans, who would you like to see the group face off against in the next instalment of the franchise? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
