Fantastic Four: 10 Villains Who Would Have Been Better Than Dr Doom

10. Mole Man

Harvey Rupert Elder was a nuclear engineer and explorer who was shunned for his homely, dwarf-like appearance and his abrasive personality. And as we all know, nothing fast-tracks a character to villainy like social exclusion. Generally viewed as a crackpot for his belief in the Hollow Earth Theory, Elder eventually not only proved his theories true, but became the king of a race of underground-dwelling creatures called the Moloids. Mole Man was the first enemy the Fantastic Four faced and, although not nearly as powerful as the other villains on the list, deserves his place in the limelight simply for this fact. The fact is that Mole Man tends to be ignored because, let's face it, he's a bit of a joke. He's a man who looks like a mole, he lives in a cave, his only friends are monsters but, like the Lizard in Amazing Spiderman, the character has so much untapped potential. With hoards of genetically-altered monsters at his command, advanced technology, and an in-depth knowledge of nuclear physics, he practically screams to be used as at least a minor villain.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
