5. “Clean Your Ears” - Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare

Carlos suffered from hearing loss and was sent to an orphanage just outside of Springwood because of the abuse he suffered at the hands of his mother. When a John Doe shows up at the orphanage, he travels back to Springwood to figure out who he is. Carlos, in what may have been his biggest mistake, stowed away in the van with friends to have a night away from the orphanage. He ends up in Springwood, where he has his fatal encounter with Freddy.

This is one of those movie deaths that gives you sympathy pains. Freddy appears as Carlos’ abusive mother, slapping him around a bit before revealing himself and inserting a giant cotton swab into Carlos’ ear. Freddy proceeds to rip out Carlos’ ear drum and hearing aid, leaving him deaf as Freddy mocks him by singing and dancing behind his back.

Freddy then gives him back his hearing aid, which attaches itself to Carlos and amplifies even the quietest of sounds. Freddy takes advantage of this by giving us one of the most excruciating sounds ever: his claws on a chalk board. Freddy essentially scrapes and humps the chalk board until Carlos’ head explodes.
