1. Channing Tatum Believes In It
Columbia Pictures/Marvel ComicsChanning Tatum is a big name draw these days. A sympathetic screen presence who can handle comedy roles like 21 Jump Street alongside more dramatic fare like Foxcatcher and Magic Mike, Tatum's easy watchability and surprising depth have put him in high demand. Having him agree front a film like Gambit, a solo spin-off without the ravenous fanbase of Deadpool or the support of Wolverine's established X-Men history, is quite a coup for Fox. What's even more impressive though, is just how much Tatum himself has backed the move to bring the character to the screen, having been unofficially been attached as actor and producer for a number of years and scheming with franchise supremo Lauren Shuler Donner to make it a reality. Now he's getting his wish and has officially signed on to play the ragin' cajun. It's not quite as much of a passion project as Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, but it also shows that he cares about the character and the isn't just cashing in on the latest trend.
