Ghost In The Shell: 10 Big Talking Points From The Trailer
2. It's Visually Stunning
The Ghost In The Shell anime movies are two seriously gorgeous works of art. They have beautifully fleshed out futuristic worlds, populated with all manners of weird and wonderful characters. Paramount have clearly spared no expense on the big screen version, which also looks absolutely stonking at this early stage.
While the cityscape has definite Blade Runner vibes – which is almost inescapable in a cyberpunk movie – it’s also a vibrant, believable environment. The set and costume designs are top notch, and props must go out to the insanely creepy robo-geisha’s seen in the trailer. They’re clearly a tip of the hat to the second anime, but somehow they’re even more unsettling in live action.
Whatever complaints people might have about GITS at this stage, we can at least agree the filmmakers have nailed the look of the world, which is no easy feat in itself.
