Golden Globes 2020: 10 Ups & 6 Downs
8. Stellan Skarsgard & Brian Cox Win Their First Ever Golden Globes
Two of the most heart-warming wins of the night went to venerated character actors who have never really been given their fair due awards-wise.
First off, Stellan SkarsgÄrd won the Best Supporting Actor (TV) award for his superb performance as Boris Shcherbina in Chernobyl, a long-overdue recognition of the man's many decades of terrific performances.
Oddly, major awards plaudits have eluded him until now - something the actor himself semi-jokingly attributed to his thin eyebrows - so this felt as much a career achievement award as it is did a single gong.
Similarly, the legendary Brian Cox won the Best TV Actor (Drama) award for his role as Logan Roy in Succession, and though Cox did in fact win an Outstanding Supporting Actor Emmy back in 2001, he's been a massively under-rewarded actor throughout his storied career of six (!) decades.
How could you not love seeing these two industry legends get some well-deserved gold?
