Gone Girl: 8 Easter Eggs & References You Might Have Missed

3. 1-855-4-AMY-TIPS

It's a little more archaic than the FindAmazingAmy.com website, but the hotline set up by Amy's parents in an attempt to find any information on their daughter's disappearance, 1-855-4-AMY-TIPS, also exists in the real world. Noticed first in the initial trailer, it helps build what feels like the most depressing viral marketing campaign ever made. Ringing the number (1-855-4-269-8477) takes you to a recording of someone, in a chillingly monotone voice, reading the first few pages of Gillian Flynn's novel. There's easier ways to get an audio-book, but it is pretty cool, making a nice change from the usual 555 movie numbers. Photos of a cast readthrough showed a preliminary version of the Missing poster with a different number, 1-888-FINDAMY, which we assume must have been a pre-existing one.
