4. The Nostalgia Is Strong

From the first trailer, it was clear that Guardians Vol 2 seemed to be going for a more nostalgic 1970s and 80s sci-fi look (similar to the approach Taika Waititi is bringing to Thor: Ragnarok, in fact), and Erik Davis confirms that feeling very much runs through the entire film.

Guardians almost feels like an 80s property, so having those reference points (which Peter Quill will no doubt be holding on to as markers of his lost life) is a smart move. Plus, the promise of flash-backs to Peter's conception possibly means we'll actually get to see de-aged Kurt Russell back in his prime hunting ground of the 80s.
