3. Karen Gillan Will Play A Villain
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed the casting of Karen Gillan (
Doctor Who) as the "lead female villain" in
Guardians of the Galaxy. Gillan joins a very geek-friendly ensemble with genre favorites like Zoe Saldana and Michael Rooker already in place. Gillan joins the aforementioned Rooker and possibly Lee Pace as the chief antagonists in the film. Pace's role is still up in the air, but regardless, this is a film that needs multiple villains to provide each of its heroes with unique challenges. Whether it's a battle with Saldana's Gamora, or exchanges with Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, Gillan could shine. This casting news will not mean much to mainstream audience members, but Marvel has been very proficient in finding relatively hidden talent to round out its films. Gillan will be another example of Marvel's success.
