Why He Might Die

Chris Pratt can't stick around playing Peter Quill forever and we now have a very defined model for the MCU permanently retiring characters by killing them off. It would also be quite fitting for him to lay down his life for Gamora to prove he loves her, which I'm pretty sure is the exact plot of a Futurama episode.

Why He Could Survive

It's more likely, however, that Quill will make it. Even if he retires, it'll be a happily ever after sort of deal with the love of his life. He's already had way too much trauma in his life - particularly with the discovery and death of his real father and the death of Yondu in Volume 2.

Plus, if you kill the MCU's version of Han Solo after Star Wars literally killed the ACTUAL Han Solo, it would never be as effective as James Gunn would want it to be.
