Halloween: 15 Most WTF Franchise Moments (So Far)
1. The Pretentious White Horse Imagery (Rob Zombie's Halloween II)
You could call the Halloween franchise many things, but pretentious? Certainly not, at least not until the release of 2009's Halloween II.
For some ill-advised reason, Zombie decided to focus the movie on a raggedy Michael Myers following a surreal vision of his mother (played by Zombie's own wife Sheri Moon), accompanied at all times by a white horse.
Any first-year literature student worth their salt will appreciate the symbolic qualities of a white horse, and given Zombie's utter inability to execute subtle imagery or storytelling in any of his movies, this just comes off as embarrassingly on-the-nose and totally misguided.
The film certainly has its fans, especially in recent years when people have revisited it, but really, the critics got this one right the first time.
What do you make of these demented moments from the Halloween franchise? Got any to add? Shout them out in the comments!
