Rather than simply hire any old hack filmmaker to reboot the Halloween franchise, Dimension Films instead opted to enlist Rob Zombie to take the series in a bold new direction.

While neither of his movies really ended up being much good, you can at least appreciate the commitment to not just dispassionately rehashing what came before, even if his short-lived reboot series certainly owes a lot to the earlier films in the series.

Probably the most audacious move Zombie made was to drastically reinvent the look of Myers himself, depicting him in his adult form as a gigantic, long-haired brute (Tyler Mane) bearing a pretty easy resemblance to Zombie himself.

It certainly gave Myers a more imposing screen presence than ever before, though Halloween II took things one step weirder by giving him a giant scraggly beard and the clothing of a homeless man. Whether you dig it or not, it's definitely a strange and unique direction for the character.
