Halloween Kills Ending Explained - What's Next For Michael Myers?

1. Will Halloween End?

Halloween Kills Michael Myers
Universal

With its very specifically chosen title, next year's Halloween Ends promises to wrap up the Halloween franchise once and for all. That film will be the 13th Halloween picture, but will that really be the end of one of the most beloved properties in the history of horror?

Of course, horror hounds have been fooled by such bold proclamations in the past. Who could forget Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, which was followed by three further Freddy Krueger outings? Or maybe Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, which was followed by a mammoth eight other Friday features? Then there's Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, which was followed by two (and counting) more movies?

The point being, horror very rarely truly lets a franchise or iconic character stayed dead.

Halloween Ends promises to close the book on Michael Myers, and the belief is that Laurie Strode will finally get to banish the demon who has been tormenting her life for over 40 years. Will Laurie succeed? And if so, will she go down with the ship and share the same fate as Michael?

Right now, all of the chess pieces are certainly in place for Halloween Ends to bring a genuine end to this property. What remains to be seen, though, is a) whether Ends really will definitively kill The Shape, and b) whether those in power will indeed let Michael Myers remain at rest as the years roll by.
