Halloween: Ranking Every Movie From Worst To Best

3. Halloween (2018)

The newest addition to the franchise also just-so-happens to be one of its best.

Scrapping the continuity of every single film except for the first one, this film tells the tale of Laurie Strode forty years on and how that tragic Halloween night in 1978 affected her. It was a gamble, but it has paid off in spades as this new film successfully returns Michael Myers to his original role as a complete and total madman for the first time in forty years.

The film boasts some incredible strengths, including an astoundingly great score by Carpenter and co., some superb, sure-handed direction from David Gordon Green, and a rock-solid script that subverts expectations at every turn. But by far, the most phenomenal element of this film is Laurie Strode.

Jamie Lee Curtis delivers what may just be her best performance of all time as a grizzled and traumatized Laurie. All around, Blumhouse has delivered the goods in this film, a more-than-worthy sequel that feels as if it finally delivers on the promise and potential of Carpenter's original film.
