And finally, the most important thing to know about the Han Solo movie is this: since this is a movie set before Han transitioned from smuggler to war hero, there's no reason he has to be nice. And since George Lucas won't be in the editing room, this will be a film where Han can shoot first.

This is Han before he met Old Ben, Luke and Leia. This is the Han that shot Greedo, the Han that offers his services to desperate folk in dingy bars, the Han that snarks endlessly, and the Han that got right up in Jabba the Hutt's slimy face and managed to walk away. Put simply, this movie will be offering up the coolest, darkest, deadliest version of Han Solo. And that sounds like something fans will love.

This could also be a more emotionally vulnerable Han, who hasn't quite mastered the art of bottling things up behind his smug mask just yet. So alongside the violent heroics, fans could also be treated to some insights into Han's psyche and what made him such an arrogant swaggerer. As long as Ehrenreich can pull off the performance, the script is tight, and Lord and Miller's direction is as excellent as ever, this could be a fan favourite in the making.

The likelihood of a decent Ford-less Han Solo movie may have seemed slim, but luckily this character hates being told the odds....
