Why stop at one Han Solo movie? If this does big business and doesn't enrage the fanbase, there's every chance that Lucasfilm will order a sequel. In this age of interconnected universes and years-in-advance studio planning, it would be odd if they hadn't already plotted out the loose beats of a trilogy before making Han's first solo movie.
They wouldn't place the Han Solo movie ten whole years before A New Hope if they didn't have plenty of stories to tell, would they? If it was just a one-and-done situation, they could've plonked it right up next to the original Star Wars movie, included loads of fan-pleasing nods and ended with Han sitting down in the cantina while Chewie goes to the bar. But they didn't, which suggests bigger plans than just one film.
Indeed, it seems likely that this could be part one of a new Star Wars trilogy which doesn't link to the Skywalker saga of the main 'Episode' movies, but still has an iconic character to ensure plenty of publicity. That's some smart studio thinking right there, and as long as the first movie is solid, it could pay off big time.
