Harry Potter: 10 Best Characters Who Aren’t Witches Or Wizards
4. Griphook
Griphook is a goblin, and Harry first meets him during his very first trip to Diagon Alley. Using his expert knowledge of the underground vaults, Griphook leads Harry and Hagrid to their required destinations quickly and efficiently.
This isn’t the last time we see Griphook, of course, and he plays a vital role in Harry’s final adventure. Safe inside Bill and Fleur’s cottage, Griphook and the central trio plan their assault on Gringotts. They manage to get inside the Lestranges’ vault and find Hufflepuff’s treasured cup, but, at the last moment, Griphook betrays them. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are then forced to flee Gringotts on the back of a dragon.
Griphook, therefore, is a morally complex character. His general dislike of wizards and witches leads him to betray his companions, but on the other hand, his actions are invaluable. Without his help, they’d never have been able to break in on their own.
