Harry Potter: 10 Most Anxiety-Inducing Movie Moments

4. Aragog’s Lair – The Chamber Of Secrets

After heeding Hagrid’s advice to ‘follow the spiders’, Harry and Ron venture into the Forbidden Forest once more. They make their way through the trees with Fang and follow the trail of spiders away from the path and into the depths of the forest.

Any scene that involves creeping through the forest is always scary, but Harry and Ron’s situation becomes much worse when they arrive at Aragog’s lair. This enormous Acromantula is a terrifying sight to witness, and thanks to the practical animatronics, it’s aged remarkably well.

Though Aragog is friendly to begin with, he soon commands the rest of his family to attack Harry and Ron, and the pair of them would have been eaten alive had it not been for the timely arrival of Mr Weasley’s Ford Anglia.

Worse still, when Harry and Ron think they’re in the clear, a spider suddenly launches itself at Ron and wraps its legs around his neck. The most unsettling aspect of this moment is the screeches the spider makes as it attempts to eat Ron. Thankfully, Harry comes to his friend’s aid and blasts the creature away with his wand.
