Harry Potter: 10 Most Evil Gryffindors Of All Time
1. Albus Dumbledore
Right so, Dumbledore is one of the main reasons the Wizarding World survived the likes of Grindelwald and Voldemort. He was a wielder of immense power and he chose to use it for the good. However, the man had some major, major flaws. His bizarre and often unnecessarily drastic decisions were some of the major reasons behind Harry’s suffering.
For starters there was his decision to leave him in an abusive household for most of his childhood. Sure enough, the protection offered by his mother’s love necessitated Harry staying with the Dursleys, but why did Dumbledore have to hide the truth from the boy? Wouldn’t it have been better if at least Dumbledore himself and a select few others had stayed in touch? At the very least they could have ensured he didn’t get starved and humiliated for ten years.
And then we have his completely questionable choices following Harry’s arrival in the Wizarding World. Dumbledore once more let him get bullied and picked upon, this time by Snape, despite having all the power to stop it. He purposefully hid the truth surrounding his connection with Voldemort, despite that the fact that knowing the truth could have prepared the young hero for what was to come.
To Dumbledore, he and he alone could have been the person with all the knowledge. Whether it was a lack of trust in others or simply his arrogance, is up to you to decide. One thing is for sure, though a lot of people may have suffered less had Dumbledore simply been more honest with them.
