Harry Potter: 10 Most Heart-Breaking Movie Moments
3. Albus Dumbledore’s Demise
One of the darkest films in the series, both visually and narratively, sees Harry and Professor Dumbledore try and locate Voldemort’s Horcruxes to finally put an end to the Dark Lord.
During the intense cave sequence where Dumbledore is forced to drink poison to gain access to the locket, the stakes could never be higher and Michael Gambon truly shines in this disturbing sequence as his character is overcome with agony and grief for his troubling past.
Matters only get worse when the two return to Hogwarts and the Death Eaters arrive. Dumbledore orders Harry to hide out of sight, who is forced to watch his idol murdered by a seemingly evil, unflinching Severus Snape and the school mourns the death of the greatest wizard in the world.
A suspenseful, dramatic turn of events which set the stage for the following two films as witches and wizards prepare for war.
