2. Dobby’s Death
The little house-elf who has always been fiercely loyal to Harry Potter finally makes his return in the Deathly Hallows Part One. He bravely fights against his previous masters to protect Harry and his friends, who have been captured by Death Eaters and taken to Malfoy Manor.
The build up to Dobby's tragic fate is already darkly foreboding, with Hermione being tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange for information and the arrival of the house-elf helps break Harry and Ron out of prison to save her.
There is a fleeting moment where the group believe they have all escaped alive and well, only for a small voice to tear at our hearts and Dobby collapses in Harry's arms, having received a fatal stab wound during their apparition away from danger.
The setting of a cold, wet beach and the broken desperation of Harry trying to avoid the truth whilst cradling the fragile Dobby will always be remembered as a huge tearjerking moment in the series.
