If Only Michael K Williams Was Winston In Ghostbusters Reboot

But he's not because life's no fun anymore.

In an alternate reality, there's a Ghostbusters reboot where the familiar mantles of Bill Murray's sarky Venkman, Dan Aykroyd's Ray and the dearly departed Harold Ramis's Egon were passed on to worthy successors. And in that reality, Omar from The Wire would be Winston (sorry Ernie Hudson, nobody really remembers you anyway). Which would be awesome. But we don't live in that world, because the universe is an uncaring, harsh place. Instead, Ghostbusters fans live in the reality where the film gets rebooted by the director of The Heat with an all-female cast. Well, almost all-female. Which is not necessarily a bad thing (especially because Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthyLeslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are hilarious), but news Michael K Williams has been cast in the film just reminds everyone of what could have been. Chris Hemsworth's already been cast as the new 'Buster's receptionist (presumably at the insistence of the actresses. and presumably not rocking the scarlet dye job Janine had back in the day), with Williams joining in a mystery role called "Hawkins". Which is not how "Winston" is spelt. Ocean's 11 star Andy Garcia is also on board, the Mayor Of New York. Meanwhile Veep's Matt Walsh will be starring as a character called Rourke, who could well be embodying a sort of Walter Peck role in the new film. Which means that he won't have a d*ck, and that he could be the one who tries to shut down these new Ghostbusters. You know, if internet commenters don't first. At the very least, give Williams another Lego monologue, eh? The new Ghostbusters is due for release on July 22, 2016. What do you think of the latest Ghostbusters casting news? Any more excited for the reboot now? Sound off in the comments.
