2. Gestapo's Last Orgy (1977)
REPRESENTING ITALY Lise Cohen is an inmate at a concentration camp during World War Two. She is subjected to terrible terrors such at the threat of being dipped in quicklime and she is dipped into a jar full of 'rats' - actually the tamest gerbils ever seen, however she shows no fear. This is because she thinks she is to blame for her family being caught by the Nazis. The camp commander becomes obsessed with her and breaking her spirit, but it is not until a doctor tells her that she was not responsible for her family's capture that she becomes alive, passionate and determined to live life to the full. There is an embarrassingly long sequence of Lise and the doctor rolling around in bed with each other, whilst the terrible theme tune plays over and over. Lise starts an affair with the camp commander a la The Night Porter. She runs around wearing a pubic wig made of dead inmates' scalps. They even have a baby together but it is repugnantly killed for being half Jewish. After the war is over, Lise and the commander meet up for closure. Utterly outrageous Nazisploitation picture from our Italian friends, Gestapo's Last Orgy just had to be in the list as an exercise in truly sleazy and sordid film making. Just read the following list of things that happen in the movie: a menstruating woman is thrown into a cage for a pack of dogs to eat, a bunch of Nazis sit down to eat 'Jewish Baby Stew' and then flambeé a woman alive with brandy, and the commandant is sodomised with his whip by Alma, a depraved camp guard who does not appreciate his relationship with Lise. Of course this is all ridiculous, hurtful nonsense and it is a slander on the Jewish race. It is a revolting film with no other message than extreme perversion, and it is this which makes it a contender in the epic battle of sleaze.
