3. Guinea Pig 2: Flower Of Flesh And Blood (1985)
REPRESENTING JAPAN Produced and directed by Hideshi Hino and adapted from his Manga work, Flower of Flesh and Blood is a joyless affair and very sleazy. Bad sleazy, not good sleazy. A man dressed as a Samurai, kidnaps a woman and brings her to his home and proceeds to torture and dismember her to death. And that's all folks! I guess the film could be called a classic of the Torture porn sub genre - a dubious delight for fans of very extreme cinema. But the premise is so scant and single minded, the film is charmless. Not that it sets out to charm but rather it repels with its sadism and brutality without meaning. One of the most reviled and feared films on the planet, many have mistaken Flower of Flesh and Blood as a snuff movie. It certainly has a grimy and seedy authentic air about it, but if you look close enough, the special effects give it away as a merely sleazy and perverted Torture porn movie. A case in which the Japanese not only crossed the line but leapt over it with a pole vault, Flower of Flesh and Blood will do little for you except nauseate you in the extreme.
