John Wick Chapter 4 Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs

4. The Fantastic Ensemble Cast

John Wick Chapter 4 Donnie Yen

As great as Keanu Reeves is in this movie, the John Wick series is also defined by its cracking ensemble cast, and Chapter 4 just might boast the most brilliantly eclectic of the bunch.

To start with the returning cast, Ian McShane, Lawrence Fishburne, and the late, great Lance Reddick all slip back quite perfectly into the roles of Winston, the Bowery King, and Charon respectively.

In terms of new characters, Donnie Yen steals basically every scene he's in as Caine, the extremely kick-ass blind assassin who crosses paths with John, while Hiroyuki Sanada and Rina Sawayama are terrific as the father-daughter pairing running the Osaka branch of the Continental.

Elsewhere Bill SkarsgÄrd is good fun as the film's pompous antagonist, the Marquis de Gramont, Clancy Brown brings requisite menace to the High Table's "harbinger," and Shamier Anderson kills it as Mr. Nobody, a bounty hunter tracking John Wick.

This and all the other bit parts throughout the movie add up to ensure Chapter 4 boasts one hell of a dynamic and entertaining ensemble you'll love spending almost three hours with.
