The trailer for Justice League that debuted at this past Comic-Con was packed full of interesting details, with one shot in particular effortlessly sending nerd fandom into overdrive.

Many, many web users, including Redditor CycloneSwift, think that the obvious identity of the hologram hero - Superman - is incorrect, and that it's actually giving us our first glimpse of Supergirl.

Here's how it would all play out, as per CycloneSwift's theory.

Bruce, after examining the digital footprint left by the Kryptonian scout ship, would discover the existence of a female Kryptonian - our Supergirl. In the Man Of Steel prequel comic, it's revealed that one such Kryptonian crash-landed on Earth centuries ago. So what if she's still out there somewhere?

This Kryptonian could be in cryo-sleep or locked safely away in some sort of stasis pod, and after Bruce discovers her existence, he'll set about freeing her.

It's a neat idea and would definitely be a surprise in the movie (and the leg on that hologram does look a little feminine, and it's also coloured gold, which Superman's outfit is not), but why would the studio reveal this information in a trailer? This seems like the type of reveal they'd want to keep under wraps.
