8. Jurassic Park III's Bit
Having Samuel L Jackson steal one of his other more famous character's catchphrase from the same genre was a great idea and a genuine invitation to fangirl out, but Kong: Skull Island full on steals a scene's ideas from Jurassic Park III.
When Bill Randa is eaten (because his camera gives away his position), the Skull Crawler that munches on him swallows the camera whole and its faulty flash keeps going off to give away its position in the fog of two gas canisters that go off. It might not have been intentional, but it feels way too much like the moment in Jurassic Park III when the Spinasaurus eats the satellite phone and its ring-tone gives away the dino's impending appearance (in an inversion of Jaw's monster build).
Randa, incidentally, should be incredibly pissed that his camera malfunctioned, since Weaver's camera is latter smashed from a great height, crushed by Kong and dropped into water and it still somehow works.
