2. Dark Phoenix?

With Sophie Turner's Jean Grey already showing some signs of her development into Phoenix in X-Men: Apocalypse, it seems inevitable that the rumours of another take on the saga will come to fruition sooner rather than later. That sort of groundwork usually doesn't go undeveloped.

So what about a little tease for the next mainline X-Men movie?

How Likely Is it?

Given the way leaks are these days, Fox would have to pull off some magic to hide the fact that they'd filmed anything with any of the X-Men: Apocalypse cast, even if it was low-key. But again, it's far from impossible. Turner has said she's shooting a film this year and a supposedly leaked shooting schedule suggests it'll be X-Men: Supernova (suggested to be a code-name for the Dark Phoenix Saga).

So while it would take some suspension of disbelief for Fox to pull off such a secret (as with New Mutants), there's a vague possibility.

Chronologically it would make no sense, but stingers don't all have to come from the same narrative - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a tease for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, after all. So why not a jump back to earlier in the time-line to see a set-up for the thus far only semi-announced sequel?
