Man Utd Transfers: 11 Signings Louis Van Gaal Must Make Immediately

10. Cesc Fabregas

Current Club: Barcelona According to the Daily Star, United will rekindle the interest in the former Arsenal star that saw them miss out on bringing him back to the Premier League 9 months ago, as the Spaniard's future at the Nou Camp is in doubt. That report puts the fee at an astronomical £45m and suggests that Fabregas would require wages of £200k a week, which shouldn't be a problem if Van Gaal has indeed been promised the bumper transfer kitty it would probably take to make United challengers again next season. The final say will of course rest with United€™s new manager, and with the Van Gaal situation expected to be resolved this week, the Star say that the manager has already identified the midfield as a priority area for strengthening. They may face competition from neighbours Man City, as well as Arsenal, but if United can convince the 27 year old to postpone a desire for Champions League football for a season (on the proviso that their ambition would be an immediate return next year) they will be picking up a vastly experienced, and hugely talented player who could well be yet to hit his peak. His dynamic style already shaped one team, in Arsenal, and if United choose to cash in on the faltering talent of costly Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, Fabregas would be a good bet for a dependable replacement, even if his price tag might make a few eyes water.
