Mark Hamill: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

4. Cocknocker - Jay And Silent Bob Strikes Back

Kevin Smith is a real marmite filmmaker; he has rabid fans who love everything he does, and there are people who simply can€™t stand him or his movies. His love of geeky films - particularly Star Wars - is undeniable though, and it was a pure fanboy move on his part to cast Mark Hamill as comic book villain Cocknocker. Even though it€™s meant to be an intentionally silly cameo it€™s kind of sad to see Hamill reduced to a bad parody of his past glories, and his ridiculously hammy performance smothers the humour out of the scene. The film even feels the need to introduce Hamill with an onscreen credit, just so people will know who he is and why they should be laughing. They€™re not laughing because the scene isn€™t nearly as funny as it thinks it is, and the lame capper of him getting his hand lopped off €“ and then turning to the camera to say €œNot again!€ €“ sums up why the scene brings the film to a grinding halt.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
