Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every Upcoming Film Ranked By Anticipation
6. Black Panther
Release Date: February 16, 2018
After years of seeding the existence of Wakanda into the MCU, Civil War marked T'Challa's big screen debut. Despite the film being loaded with characters we've known for years now, Black Panther practically stole the show anytime he was on screen, with Chadwick Boseman's performance winning over fans and critics, helping serve as the perfect introduction to the character for audiences the world over two years out from his own solo outing.
Like Ant-Man and the Wasp, the simple distance between now and the film's release has meant story details still haven't leaked, but with Civil War helping to essentially get the character's origin story out of the way, Black Panther's solo outing has the freedom to dive headfirst into the deep mythology and lore fans have loved about the character for decades. Wakanda and its placement within the MCU is a playground in which all kinds of stories can be told, and T'Challa himself is unlike any of the other sarcastic, iron-suited billionaires, rage monsters, and patriotic super-soldiers we've come to know.
The film is absolutely stacked with a great supporting cast, too, with actors like Lupita Nyong'O, Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, and Michael B. Jordan set to play friends and foes of T'Challa, along with the return of familiar MCU faces like Martin Freeman's Everett Ross and Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaue. With the enthusiastic Ryan Coogler on board following his success with 2013's Fruitvale Station and 2015's Creed, there's little doubt that the character's leap from supporting character to star of the show will be anything less than solid.
