3. Cap Dies And Is Replaced - Avengers 4

The Prediction

There's already a fairly well-established theory that Captain America is going to die at the climax of Infinity War. Chris Evans' contract is coming to an end, the character was saved from his Civil War fate thanks to changes in adaptation, and Phase 4 is widely being heralded as a new start for Marvel.

There's also a general feeling that if he dies, it won't be for long. But what if Kevin Feige actually does what he's claimed he'll do all along and simply replaces Cap when he pegs it? What if we see Falcon or Bucky do what they've both done in the comics and step up into the Captain America role?

The Implications

In terms of a continuation of the Cap brand, we'd get more sequels, and more possible battles with HYDRA, but more importantly, we'd also get a new culture in the MCU whereby actors couldn't rely on the strength of their character brands to negotiate huge paydays at the end of contracts.

If Marvel knew they could kill off and replace characters with other legacy characters, they'd have no reason to need to inflate wages. And it would then be an easy step to just recasting without killing anyone off, which could extend the MCU even further.
