MCU: 10 Characters Most Likely To Die (And The Movies They'll Die In)

2. Mordo (Doctor Strange 2 Or 3)

Captain America Infinity War

Why He's Likely To Die: Karl Mordo was a good guy for the majority of Doctor Strange's runtime, before fully committing to villainy in the final post-credits scene.

It's now expected that he'll return in the sequel to Doctor Strange as either the one-and-done main antagonist, or a side threat with a multi-movie arc. While we know nothing about Doctor Strange 2 at this point, comments by C. Robert Cargill - who wrote the first film - indicate that the latter scenario will be how Mordo's role plays out.

Cargill told MovieWeb that Mordo has an arc that they've already thought through, and this is one of the reasons Chiwetel Ejiofor took the role in the first place:

"Mordo has a very particular arc, and that's something we discussed with Chiwetel while working on the first movie... Chiwetel wanted to play Mordo because he has a definitive ending as a character and it's such a fascinating ending... Marvel plans on working towards that ending and fully realizing Mordo as more than just a cardboard cutout villain... that's the goal with him."

A "definitive" ending, eh? In the comic-books (which Cargill mentioned were a major inspiration), Mordo contracts terminal cancer due to his use of black magic. With him now becoming a villain in the movies - and possibly going on to dabble in the dark arts in Doctor Strange 2 - the seeds of this particular death have already been sown.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
