4. It's Purposefully Different To Other Spider-Man Films
While all have their benefits and flaws, most previous Spider-Man films are joked about when superhero films are discussed – as a mix of questionable production, dodgy CGI, and some downright weird acting choices have made a lot of the prior films a meme at best, and forgettable at worst.
Although it’s clear nobody wanted Homecoming to mirror this type of reception, it’s often not made clear just how far the Marvel team went to make sure the newest addition was different.
Indeed, Jonathan Goldstein and John Daley – two of the people behind the screenplay – explicitly wrote lists of all the elements of previous Spider-Man films they felt had detracted from the story, and went to great lengths to avoid these pitfalls within Homecoming itself. Between not featuring Pete’s full origin story, to small visual and tonal edits, it’s clear that the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming is very much due to the sheer care that went into crafting it.
