MCU: 10 Most Shocking Moments In Marvel Movies So Far
4. The First Death Of A Hero
After just about every MCU character dying only to come back minutes, hours, films or TV shows later, you could be forgiven for treating Quicksilver’s death in Avengers: Age of Ultron with just the slightest bit of trepidation.
But, nearly four years after the movie was released, it’s safe to say that’s the last we have seen of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s character. Probably.
In Joss Whedon's Avengers sequel, the speedster dies heroically - taking a hail of bullets to save the life of Hawkeye who, it’s revealed earlier in the family, has a family somehow. That in itself was a shock and the fact that he spent the whole movie being set up as dead meat just made his saviour's death all the more shocking.
The actual death is shot majestically and the scene that follows is the stuff of pure Marvel magic. His sister, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlett Witch, unleashes the beast inside and ends up ripping Ultron’s metallic (but somehow extremely gooey) heart. It makes for one of the series’ most stunning and shocking moments.
