MCU: 10 Sneaky CGI Moments You Probably Didn't Notice

3. Captain Marvel's Hair (Avengers: Endgame)

Human hair behaves a lot differently in space than it does on Earth, and this makes it tricky for filmmakers to deal with when shooting cosmic-set scenes, even for a franchise with unlimited resources at its disposal.

The hair has to float and wave about to make it look convincing, and this means that the actor's real hair has to be manipulated in post-production, or - as is the case with Captain Marvel in Avengers: Endgame - they wear a bald cap and the entire thing is rebuilt from scratch using CGI.

Carol Danvers has a much shorter hairdo for her scenes in the second half of the film, but in the first half, she's sporting shoulder-length blonde locks. For the scene where the character floats in space after heading down to Thanos' planet to do some recon, Brie Larson wore a bald cap so that the effects team could more easily manage her hair in post-production.

Presumably, this technique was also used during her first scene, too, which also takes place in space - when she appears in front of a rather surprised Tony Stark.
