As previously mentioned, the main moment for The Collector is when he gets to give what's basically a huge exposition dump about the Infinity Stones, after the Guardians discover that's what the Orb contains.

Although at the time everything regarding the Infinity Stones felt like years away, it's an important moment to revisit now that we're just days away from Infinity War as it gives us a greater understanding of what the Stones are. As the Collector explains:

"Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots... Infinity Stones... These stones, it seems, can only be brandished by beings of extraordinary strength. These carriers can use the stone to mow down entire civilizations like wheat in a field. Once, for a moment, a group was able to share the energy amongst themselves, but even they were quickly destroyed by it."

It nicely sets up Thanos wielding all of them, and how he'll have the power to wipe out half the universe if and when he does collect them all, while the idea of a "group" being able to share the energy could be pertinent to saving the universe too.
