MCU: 20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Avengers
11. Tony Was Right About Loki
As the Avengers stood fractured and scattered after Loki attacked the quinjet, all hope seemed lost. Hulk was gone, Thor was gone, Coulson was dead, and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who had only just come together, took one hell of a kicking from the self-proclaimed King of Asgard.
They needed a plan, they needed to find the Tesseract, and Tony Stark came in with some truly special insight. He called Loki a diva, and that this fight was just the previews. For opening night he wanted a monument built to the skies with his name plastered on it. This led them to Stark Tower for the final battle.
Tony didn’t know just how right about Loki he was. After the God of Mischief’s defeat, he was returned to Asgard where he was able to dispatch Odin to Earth and rule whilst posing as his adoptive father.
He made many changes, including daily performances about how great he was, but there was another, bigger tribute. He commissioned a huge statue of himself to be erected for all to see and worship. This was as close to a monument built to the skies as you are ever going to get on Asgard, and Tony Stark called it all those years earlier.
