It has since been surpassed by Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, but there was a time when the coming together of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America was the most ambitious comic book movie event in history.

Thor himself didn’t even appear on screen until 45 minutes into the movie, when he stole Loki away from the Avengers. His trouble with his brother went back far longer than any of the Avengers had ever been alive, but Tony and Steve weren’t about to let Loki be taken. As Thor spoke with Loki, he was completely wiped out by Iron Man, who had no idea who Thor was or what his intentions were with Loki.

As far as he was concerned, Thor could kill Loki at any point, and then the Tesseract was lost forever, so he and Thor fought. The God of Thunder inadvertently boosted Iron Man’s power, while the Asgardian’s head was stronger than that of Tony Stark’s armour. They gave each other a run for their money, until Captain America arrived to try and keep the peace.

This resulted in the first coming together of Mjolnir and Cap’s shield, something that sent all three men sprawling, ending the fight there and then. Unfortunately, as it ended amicably, audiences never got to know who would have truly won the fight.
