MCU: Predicting Every Marvel Movie From 2020 - 2022
8. July 31, 2020 - Black Widow
After years of fans crying out for one, and Kevin Feige making non-commital murmurings, Marvel are finally preparing to make a Black Widow movie.
All we know so far is that Jac Schaeffer is penning the movie, with Scarlett Johansson sure to reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff. It could feasibly stay on the docket for years but, despite no director attached, the second 2020 slot seems a fair bet.
Unlike most MCU films, Black Widow isn't going to be reliant on massive sets or extensive CGI, meaning it'll be quicker to turn around. Secondly, a lot of the story is already set: the most exciting part of Romanoff's story is her past, so this is likely to be a prequel incorporating her training, the red in her ledger, and Budapest (along with many other things).
The other releases for 2020 will probably be sequels, and it's hard to see Marvel releasing a full three-movie slate of sequels in one year, so there needs to be something at least partly new. Black Widow fits the bill, and can be ready sooner than anything else that might otherwise have worked.
